Tatiana DIMITRIU - Understanding the factors controlling AMR plasmid transmission

In bacteria, genes conferring antibiotic resistance are mostly carried on conjugative plasmids, mobile elements which spread horizontally among bacterial hosts by conjugation. Here I will discuss our work exploring various factors that impact AMR plasmid transmission: the evolution of plasmid transfer rates depending on opportunities for transfer; the presence of bacterial defence systems targeting plasmids; competition between plasmids; as well as environmental conditions.
