Host-microbe interactions: from lung to gut

My research focuses on studying host-microbe interactions through a multidisciplinary approach. During my PhD (2014-2018), I worked in the Dr Olivier Neyrolles’ lab at IPBS, Toulouse, specialist of the host-pathogen interactions in tuberculosis. I studied the contribution of the microbiota to influence both M. tuberculosis virulence and the immune response to infection. Through my first Postdoc (2019-2021), I joined the Prof. Ulla Knaus’ lab at UCD, Dublin, IE, experienced in host-microbe interactions mediated by mucosal ROS (reactive oxygen species) in the intestine. I worked on the redox mechanisms influencing enteropathogens virulence, and also in the development of a therapeutic strategy producing ROS to limit intestinal inflammation and improve wound healing. I recently joined the team 1 at IRSD, Toulouse, pursuing research on the intestinal mucosal barrier, and the complex dialogue taking place.
