I would like to present to the lab my background and research prospects. The presence of water, and the temporality of this presence, are parameters that crucially influence the ecological niche and the assembly mechanisms of many organisms. This subject will be addressed mainly through the prism of freshwater invertebrate communities in rivers exposed to drying. Another study, carried out in collaboration with Ecobio and focusing on several biological groups in an anthropized marshland, will also be discussed. Although the ecosystems and organisms differ in these twe studies, the analytical tools and major ecological issues overlap, and contribute to the overall debate on possible levers for water management with a view to conserving biodiversity. Finally, initial prospects for a possible study of intermittent rivers in the Breton context will be considered.
