ISCR Webinar - Claude GRISON

Crédits : ISCR

Claude Grison is CNRS research Director at the University of Montpellier. She created and then directed the bio-inspired chemistry and ecological innovations laboratory (CHIMECO). This chemist is very invested in the environmental cause.
"In a rapidly changing world, the search for ecological solutions to environmental changes is essential. The solutions presented are based on the defense and adaptation mechanisms of plants to their environment in a context of abiotic (pollution, climate change) or biotic (insects) stress. The overall approach is based on a molecular approach which relates to the chemistry of life and scientific ecology.
The common thread of the approach that will be presented is that of an innovation which is based on the dimensions of sustainable development:

  • A global approach to scientific ecology: from fundamental to operational in the field

  • An approach to the green economy based on innovative and bio-inspired chemistry, promoting ecological solutions.

This original approach offers the first perspective of valorizing unique plant species and initiates a new branch of green chemistry: ecocatalysis.
The industrial production of biomolecules of interest by this new concept constitutes a real test of the ecotechnologies developed, because the field integrates a level of requirements rarely reached at the interface of sustainable chemistry and ecological solutions to protect the biodiversity. Some demonstrative examples will illustrate this approach."
