Our group studies myeloid cells phenotypes and functions in cancer and response to therapies. We employ integrative omics approaches, in silico analyses of large datasets and functional validation in experimental systems to characterize myeloid cell therapeutic entry points. In this talk, I will discuss two ongoing studies, the first identifying a deleterious myeloid cell subset in patients with steatohepatitis-HCC (SH-HCC), and the second exploring the impact of surgical resection on the remodeling of the tumor immune microenvironment in an experimental mouse model of glioblastoma (GB). Collectively, our studies identify the inflammatory receptor TREM1 as a potential therapeutic target in HCC and implicate the inflammasome pathway in post-resection recurrence in GB.
